With over-night frosts and daytime temperatures not getting much above zero, it was going to be a very difficult day for the 28 anglers competing in this weeks qualifier open. With 14 anglers on each lake and a continental payout in place, it was going to be a very even affair for all taking part.
On a very hard day, Tony Mcgregor (AKA Moaner) combated the swirling wind to fish bread long on peg 7, to comfortably win the lake and the match with 70lbs 13ozs. Second on the lake was taken by Dennis Page on peg no.32, who fished pellet long to put 46lbs 05ozs on the scales.
Richard Bond continued his excellent form with a tidy performance, catching F1’s and small carp to put a tidy 53lbs 02ozs from peg no.2. Close behind with 52lbs 06ozs was John Millard, who fished maggot all day for second on the lake.
