On a mild, sunny morning, 24 anglers arrived to compete in this weeks Summer Qualifier fished on Magpie Lake. With the lake producing far better form over the past couple of weeks, the expectations were high for good sport from all taking part in these near perfect conditions.

There was reasonable sport to be found by those who persevered and stuck to their guns but one or two of the field found the going hard, even in the warmer conditions. Top spot on the lake went to Bag’em Matchbaits backed Josh Pace on peg 10. He fished 16m to the island to put an impressive 113lbs 14ozs on the scales to comfortably win the lake. Newmarket based Simon Easey fished to the lily’s and down the edge on peg 27 to secure second place with 81lbs 13ozs, with Dennis Page on peg 33 with 68lbs 12ozs.
