With temperatures exceeding the 30 degree barrier yet again and with very little wind, 22 anglers fished today’s Summer Qualifier in perfect conditions for fishing caster shallow. This has proved to be the winning method on the lake over the past 6 weeks, and with a afield full of quality anglers, big weights were definitely going to be on the cards.

As expected, Magpie yet again produced exceptional sport, with the average weight being a massive 268lbs per man. The match was won by Tackle & Bates rod Tim Bates , who fished caster shallow at 6m to put a total of 451lbs 04ozs on the scales from peg 22. Second on the lake with 389lbs 02ozs was Wayne Shepherd on peg 3, who also fished caster shallow all day, with big weight expert John Payne finishing the match with 363lbs 12ozs from peg 10.
