On a warm, bright day, the anglers fishing this weeks Summer Qualifier on Magpie lake were expecting excellent sport and to say they weren’t disappointed would be an understatement, as the top 4 anglers all weighed in over 200lbs.
With a superb 350lbs 12ozs from peg 25, which included 144 carp, not only did John Payne win the match, he also broke the lake record! John fished caster shallow all day and his weight could have been much bigger but he lost fish from his third keepnet, as he hadn’t noticed a rip in his keepnet, which cost him a possible 400lbs. Second on the lake was Ashley Prestige on peg 19, who put 259lbs 08ozs on the scales, with Dale Smith taking third place with 209lbs 14ozs from peg 8.
