Thursday the 27th of December – Winter Qualifier – Magpie & Raven Lakes – 25 Fished

Mild temperatures, overcast skies and virtually no wind greeted the 25 anglers who fished today’s Winter Qualifier on Magpie and Raven lakes. The now standard continental payout was in place as the match was split between two lakes, with 13 on Magpie and 12 anglers on Raven, to ensure a fare payout on the day.

Tactically, dobbing bread or maggots on the hook, fished to Lilly pads or marginal reeds on the long pole were the most productive methods on both lakes, with at least one back up line required, just in case the main baited area only produces the odd fish. another options was to fish in deeper, open water areas that normally gets ignored in the winter months but has in recent weeks produced match winning weights, when the going is exceptionally hard.
