Wednesday the 2nd of January – Over 60’s Open – Jay Lake – 21 Fished

The first Over 60’s match of 2019 was fished in bitterly cold conditions. The warmer days up to Christmas have now moved on and the weather made the going far from easy for the 21 anglers competing today. As in previous weeks, the most productive winter baits were maggot or dobbed bread, with very little feed required to keep the bites coming.

Top Spot went to in form Allan Owen on peg 27, who fished the long pole tot he far shelf to put a very hard earned 51lbs 14ozs of all carp.Second place was taken by John Pratt on peg 11, who also found fish on the long pole and down the near shelf for a total weight of 35lbs 12ozs, with Vic German on peg 5 putting 35lbs 02ozs on the scales for third overall.

The next Wednesday Over 60’s Open is on Wednesday the 9th on Raven Lake, draw at the Cafe at 08.30, fish 10.00 – 15.00, all welcome
